What’s To Be Done With Lil’ Carlitos
By: Taylor Rockwell | November 6th, 2008Imagine, if you will, that you are dating a pretty, attractive woman (or man for the female readers out there). She vies for your attention and works hard to be a good girlfriend. Then you meet a new girl, who makes Marissa Miller look like a homeless drifter, but doesn’t really give you the time of day. Do you stick with the girl who obviously wants to be with you, or opt for the hot commodity who would probably drop you in a heartbeat? Sir Alex it seems, would drop the old girlfriend like Keano dropped Alf-Inge Håland (quickly, ruthlessly, and without the appearance of guilt).
I imagine that you see where I’m going with this. It seems more and more likely that Carlos Tevez’ days are numbered at Manchester United. Fergie seems to opt for a Rooney-Berbatov combination with increased regularity, and Tevez has (as of late) been the odd-man-out in the United strike duo.
In the early part of the season, Tevez was by far United’s best player. Ronaldo was out and Berba was sulking in a Spurs track suit, so it fell to Tevez to carry the load. Tevez seems a player who thrives on opportunity and, more importantly, confidence. Without any in-team pressures to perform, Tevez consistently outplayed any other man wearing a Red Devil kit. With the arrival of Berba, however, things appear to have changed.

What will become of last season’s big name signing?
Just look at yesterday’s match against Celtic. Tevez started the match as the semi-lone striker (Giggs was positioned just behind him). He spent much of the first half frustrated (both on and off the ball) and was visibly miffed when removed in favor of Wayne Rooney in the 71st minute. With a Rooney-Berba partnership now on the pitch, United pushed forward, got a rebound goal from Giggsy in the 84th and a near-winner from Berba at the death. Meanwhile, Tevez sat on the bench, pacifier firmly nestled somewhere in his shorts.
So, what do you think will happen with Carlos Tevez after this season is over? Will he eventually be signed to a permanent deal? Will he be allowed to leave and sign with another team (possibly one of our Big 4 rivals)? Will he continue to dance? Only time will tell.

This is the only unfortunate saga for this season so far… everything else with the team looks good with Ronaldo also getting in the thick of things…. Tevez was doing so well as you said before Berba came… for the good btw…but he is a sort of player that needs time to be comfortable and not know that there is a sword hanging on top of his head all the time…especially now that his form has pretty much gone after being dropped to the bench…
after this weekend’s game at Emirates, we are playing QPR, Stoke, Aston Villa, Villareal, City, Sunderland, Aalborg, Tottenham, Wigan, Stoke, Boro .. now if this is not the period to play Carlitos I don’t know what it is… except for the Villareal game and maybe Spurs and Villa…most games for the next month and a half are relatively easy.. I just hope he stays with us…Posted from

Hopefully he keeps on dancing. I just hope he stays patient because we have two fixtures moved to after Jan 1 with those load of games and hopefully competing on all fronts Tevez will be key to winning some silverware.

i dunno why fergie has not started with tevez and rooney together a single time since berba’s arrival.they both did so well together last year..i know berba’s good but fergie never seems to rest him and play roo-tev together..this should be tried and i’m sure tevez will shine again!!!i don’t wanna lose him..there aren’t many players who play with such passion like tevez.

i think its cause Rooney and Tevez are similar…at least according to me … and Berbatov gives us the height advantage that we don’t have if he does not play.. Rooney and Tevez can sure play together but Berbatov just gives an extra dimension…plus don’t forget the fact that its only been two months since Berbatov arrived..he’s probably wanting to see how well can Berbatov link up with Rooney and sometimes Tevez

I bet you…next game Tevez plays..and is substituted, we won’t see any head shaking…. Fergie is pretty intelligent to keep all those sort of things in-house…and keep a tight grip on everything coming out of there…and also if there’s any manager that can keep all these strikers happy it’s Fergie.. but this’ll be a test for him too…

I agree it’s because they’re very similar, but that was also the criticism of United bringing in Carlitos last season, and it seemed to work out fine.
Meanwhile, if you’ll allow me another analogy. Imagine that you have job where you share a position with two other people. You are told that two of the three of you will soon be getting a promotion. Then the other two start getting all the work/responsibility, and you are left to sit in your cubicle and blog all day. What would you think> How long would you wait before that resume started getting sent out?

one of the main points you missed Taylor, is that the job is soo good and your boss is one in a million..and there is not many places better for you to go and grow than this job….then what do you do??
..but being a neutral and not caring about English sentiments or anything of those sorts.. I have to say that Tevez is a better player than Rooney.. now before people come jumping after me… you have to look beyong Rooney’s current super spell and at last year’s performances…Tevez gave more to the team that Rooney and his goals were more at the time of need…like the Lyon game, or the Blackburn game… but alas, he an Argie in England under a British manager who actually knows the long term effect local players have on the club’s image….there’s no way Tevez will get a fair deal until he produces something close to Ronaldoesque proportions…Posted from

and also that reminds me of the Real Madrid saga …if Ronaldo has any brains he’d not go to RM as they are nothing close to what they were a decade ago… there’s no point in leaving Manchester when everything’s set up for you and while Sir Alex is there… but if Ronaldo does leave then we can go back to Berbatov , Rooney and Tevez trio and go on from there… and the problem’s half solved…

The problem was trying to have tevez play off giggs. There is room for Tevez as United always need 3 class strikers in the squadsheet. Theres always a metatarsal that rooney has yet to break.
