Danny Welbeck is a talented player. He appear at the right time. Unlike Rossi, he don’t have to compete for place with wayne rooney or tevez. When he turn 20, Rooney and Tevez is already 26-27.. That is about another generation.

i think this was one of the worst games Ronaldo had.. he was guilty of keeping the ball too much with him and his crosses often tended to be lame shots to the keeper.. he has to keep a balance between trying to score and being a winger..there were so many occasions I saw Berbatov and Tevez expect the ball somewhere near them and Ronaldo would take a shot…
Also something of a worry was how we were not able to get into their defense with passing.. i noticed many times we started from the left..went to the middle…went to the right…then through the left again and then Ronaldo would shoot… we need something better on the wing other than which Ronaldo’s playing to be more effective.. Park was crap…
Ronaldo’s free kicks were pretty good..but the scoreline flattered us big time

Wellbeck was born in Manchester and has played for England at a number of youth levels (the latest being U-19, I think).

Ethnically, he’s certainly Ghanaian, but in football terms he’s English (at least for now, he could still choose to represent Ghana at full level, but that doesn’t look very likely).

Carrick – Quality seeings though he was only bought whilst we waited for Hargreaves? He should play in the middle with Gerrad for England.

and yes, that rocket from Carrick was pretty awesome… is it a rule that he can only score driven goals like that? No headers. No tap ins. Just rockets from at least 15 out?

He may have wailed at it, but having the balls to rip one like that from distance is the kind of tenacity we need from our youth. It’s the same thing that excites me about Rafael’s play. Sometimes, it seems like our established players get a bit comfortable, while those who usually sit on the bench work just a touch harder to make an impression. Hence, the strong performances from Rafael, Welbeck, and (perhaps most notably Fletch). I would love to include Manucho in there, and I liked that he appeared determined to make an impact… but he didn’t really do a whole lot on the pitch.

That said, the only negative (as stated before) that I took away from this match was that Carlitos seems to be doing everything in his power to make the front office NOT want to offer him a new contract. The worse he plays, the more unsettled he appears…

Welbeck is supposed to be a striker I believe. Although I’m way more impressed with Michael Carrick scoring another goal with a foot he never even had before. Every time I watch the Welbeck goal I get the feeling he just wailed at it and it went in.

I’ll get things rolling. I claimed elsewhere that Welbeck’s strike was the best of the five. Anyone disagree?

And random question to anyone who knows. Where does Welbeck play? Wide right or centre forward? Would love to hear a few opinions on this kid.
