United v. Aalborg – Highlights
By: Taylor Rockwell | December 10th, 2008So, I guess ManUtd.com can stop writing articles where the theme is “United Captain Gary Neville will use this as an opportunity to reclaim his spot in the regular starting eleven.” Wayne wrote it yesterday, and it remains true today: Rafael is now, officially, the preferred choice at right back. What that means for brother Fabio and England International Wes Brown (who is still apparently on the team) remains to be seen.
Definitely not the greatest all around team effort. Tevez certainly did his part, and I thought both goals were taken rather classily. The most exciting bit was, for me, Anderson’s performance. The young Brazilian has come on leaps and bounds in his two brief years at Old Trafford, and will no doubt continue to gain starting opportunities. With Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick on the mend, and Hargo done for the year, Anderson’s ability to shine in the middle will be a welcome reinforcement come the new year.
On another note, John O’Shea once again did his best to confirm the old saying, “The Champions League is for all the greatest players in the world… and John O’Shea.”
Regardless, a lackluster effort puts United through on top of Group E (thanks in large part to Celtic defeating Villarreal 2-0). What that means remains to be seen, but my money is on us meeting either Inter or King Franco FC. It just seems like that’s going to be the luck this year, although I would welcome an opportunity to play Sporting. Who do you think United will draw? Better yet, who would you prefer United draw. I would honestly love to see us draw and then humiliate King Franco FC.

Same here Taylor regarding the preferred draw. I’d love to see us get Real. Although Juande Ramos is now coach I still think that we’d ramshackle them. Plus, if Ronaldo still harbours hopes of a move to the Bernabeu, the best way to impress a suitor (football-wise) is to knock a few goals past them. I wouldn’t care if he moved in a few years as long as he can help us to the CL this year again..
Bring on Crisis FC/King Franco FC/Real Madrid.

I wouldn’t mind United facing Lyon, then beating them and forcing Benzema to decide he wants to come to United during the summer after CRonaldo leaves…
But I know for a fact that those balls are going to turn up United Vs Real Madrid.

Anderson has been outstanding in this match. He keep on supplying the ball to Rooney and Tevez. The first goal from Aalborg is unfortunate. I can say it was due to the lack of concentration from the defender.

The draw did get us through top of the table. But what if the draw actually cost us top spot?
United cannot keep winning big matches and losing against smaller teams. Keep this up and we’ll be just like Arsenal, beating the top teams and succumbing to less known opponents (no offence to the small teams).

I didn’t get to watch the game, but I assume that Kuszczak was somewhere between useless and mediocre again?

Polish failbot sounds funnier. Which is more than we can say about his performance.
