In england alot of the tackles are upper body tackles, the hurt but generally not too much lasting damage. In italy they go straight for the ankles, look at van basten. The reason ronaldo should be scared is because he is fast, a fast run, a tackle that might even only touch the ball but if he trips over it and lands wrongly their goes his ankle for a good 5 months and it probably wont ever be the same again. trust me ronaldo has been attacked pretty tamely compared to what he might receive in italy. The incident they're complaining about was probably a penalty--close, though, as it was shoulder to shoulder--but it wasn't particularly violent. Worst tackle in the game belonged to Rooney.
