News/rumors from around the web – Jan 20th

Not much to report the past couple of days. At least nothing really THAT interesting.

We’re linked with Sergio Ramos because he and CRon apparently don’t get along. There was obviously only going to be one winner from that battle. The real question is whether or not Madrid will let him go or tell the 2 players to suck it up and coexist. I mean, Andy Cole and Sheringham pretty much hated each others guts while playing for us. Yet, they made it work and ended up being part of that spectacular 99 squad. Stop being petty boys. If City players can start throwing punches and still be best buds all at the same time, surely you guys can work out your differences. Besides, the going rate for Ramos would be extremely high and our defense isn’t exactly our area of weakness right now.

The other defender we’re apparently eyeing is Baines from Everton. Once again, the Evra rumors refuse to die. So, we’ve got a bunch of players lined up to play LB once Mr Ex French captain leaves for the Bernabeu. Baines is a decent player. Will probably be overpriced due to his possession of an English passport. My vote if it ever comes down to it is to push for Coentrao. Let’s not even begin to talk about Jose Enrique.

In some non transfer news, the great King has landed in the MLS with the newest/oldest franchise, the NY Cosmos. Eric will be assuming the grand role of Director of Football. Will be interesting to see if he doesn’t become a bigger celebrity than any of his own players on the team. Wonder if they could entice him out of retirement and make some cameo appearances every now and then on the field?
