Manchester United Face Roma for the First Time in their History
By: Nick | April 3rd, 2007
So United and around 4,000 traveling fans are off to the not so cozy confines of the Stadio Olimpico for the next hurdle in the Champions League.
It’ll be the might of the Premiership against the challengers from the corrupt all cleaned up now (ha!) Serie A.
The Italian league isn’t exactly the World’s (cough, cough) most honest league — so who knows if suitcases of cash mysteriously appeared outside Old Trafford once the draw was completed. Not that such a thing would ever happen (ahem).
Bad gags about dodgy dealings aside — Serie A has been under a severe cloud lately with ugly scenes in and around their stadiums (and let’s be honest – sometimes on the pitch).
With the Serie A season being played out with a giant asterisk next to it, thanks to the fall-out from the corruption scandal – who knows how good Roma really are? Yes, they cruised past Lyon previously, but they’d been a little bit poor since they won Ligue 1 before Christmas.
I’ve a bad feeling we’ll leak a couple of goals tomorrow, thanks in no small part to Vidic’s tragic broken collarbone. A couple of players will be back for the match, so the news is not all bad.
As usual, an away goal could prove crucial. My prediction? Roma 2, United 1.

2-1 sounds about right… I heard they sent fans traveling a crazy ass letter about watching out for hooliganism. Kind of bullshit.
