Man Utd 1 – 4 Liverpool, An Utter Embarrassment
By: Wayne Farry | March 14th, 2009First of all, this isn’t going to be long. The result hasn’t really sunk in. I know this because I’m not that angry. Once it’s sunk in I’ll be livid.

We lost 1-4 at home today to the Scousers. It was a game with calamity after calamity with every one of Liverpool’s goals (except Dossena’s cracker) a direct result of a stupid United mistake. Vidic let the ball go past him and Torres drift in for the first goal. Evra uncharacteristically let the ball go past him instead of dealing with it before Gerrard stole the chase, only to be hacked down by the wee Frenchman. Liverpool’s third goal was from a free-kick; once again Vidic (who had his worse in a Utd shirt that I can remember) didn’t deal with the ball and Gerrard ran to close it down. Vidic, however, didn’t see this as an option. He came into contact with Gerrard with a tackle that would have been more at home at Murrayfield today than at OT. Maybe he thought getting a red card was worth not conceding again…Hmmmm…Not so lucky, he was sent off (for the second time this season against ‘Pool) and Fabio Aurelio knocked it an extraordinary free-kick.

Oh yeah, and United took the lead through a Ronaldo penalty after Reina dragged down Park. It was the one good thing Ronaldo did today, he was awful. So were most of United’s players; Roo was AWOL, Carrick off the boil, the only two players worth their salt today were Rio and Park who both worked their arses off for the ultimately fruitless cause. Most of those players out there should be ashamed of themselves for such a shambles of a ‘performance’.

So, a 1-4 defeat at home. Apparently our heaviest home defeat since New years Day 1992. There’s a bright side though, we’re still four points ahead with a game in hand. The title’s still in our hands.
Congratulations to Liverpool, they did well and ripped apart a Man Utd team who were out of sorts and appeared to be believing their own hype. They deserved their win and were ruthless in claiming it.
Just thinking though, what sorta odds will I get on Liverpool losing to Villa next weekend at Anfield?
I’ll think I’ll put some money on it.

i woke up for this spectacle of turdishness at friggin 7:30 this morning…hungover…i don’t know if it was that or the gutless performance that nauseated me so much. i hate to say this but it was almost a little brother big brother fight today. they took our “best” which was obviously not good enough, although i thought tevez was more productive and team oriented than he is most days, and were like “that’s it?” and took it down and scored whenever we were nudged into soiling ourselves. pretty shameful display really. i don’t even know what to think of carrick this season, he’s obviously not good enough defensively to replace hargo, he’s not good enough going forward to replace scholes. to me he’s kind of a xabi alonso or pirlo type, but i don’t see where that kind of guy fits in our team without a hardass midfielder watching his back. ando’s a bust by the way, the dude hasn’t shown up for shit since he got here.

Ya, the worst thing was that there was no sense of purpose in our play especially after they scored back….the 30-45 minute time was so frustrating to watch.. everyone trying those cheeky showboating, good for nothing passes.. that ended nowhere..and Liverpool were ready for it…and same at the start of the second half..they knew that United would come on strong and just sat back till they scored again…
saying that Vidic should probably have not been playing this game…he made the same lunge on Martins last weekend and got away with it.. its strange that he did that again…and nobody corrected him..Posted from

Today was so awful, it’s gonna take me days to get over this. I watched in a pub with mostly Liverpool supporters and felt the pain even more deeply. Liverpool deserved to win. I don’t know which is more disappointing, that they have been shite all season until this week, or that they have less than half the squad that United do and still pull off a performance like tihs. Luckily I have the England-France rugby tomorrow to drown my sorrows…

This defeat is not the end of the road. After IM match the players were damn tired.Sir Alex Ferguson cuold have planned a defensive game.Still Man U players are weak in scoring inside the set pieces, while taking the corners. When the situation arises that you can not score easily, long shots can be tried.

Woo Liverpool fans coming on here like they’ve won the League (or any cup for that matter). A bit like Citeh yes, this must be the highlight of your year. Then you guys lie down down and take it up the *ss from the like of ‘Boro etc.
That said, congratulations, well played, etc. This hurts real bad, I still feel like I need a drink.Nothing can make this incredible pain go away. Unless we draw Liverpool in the Champions League and beat the hell out of them.

What part of that doesnt sound amazing ?????!!!
Real Madrid 5 – 0 dealt with ( champs league )
Man Utd. 6 – 2 dealt with ( 2 prem games this year )
We’ve also dealt with Chelsea in the prem.
A few highlights there actually …. We are the biggest fear for the remaining teams in the champs league … you ALL fear the draw on friday.

How right you are lfc, we couldn’t even beat Fulham, just like you Scouses couldn’t even beat Stoke, Hull, Middlesbrough, Stoke again. The list goes on…
Some of you take more pleasure in United defeats than you do in Liverpool victories.
It’s amazing.
