It most definitely was!!!! Apart from pickpocketing Banks (disallowed), it was his most clever and it was easy the most sophisticated move that close to the goal I’ve ever seen. In fact, that season I was a ballboy for the Earthquakes and seeing (AND FREAKING MEETING!!!) George in person was such a thrill I immediately began asking questions and ended up learning about Manchester United, Northern Ireland, the Troubles, English soccer in general (yay First Division!), and essentially claimed Man U as “my team” from that moment on. Although Robson was my favorite player, no one impressed me away the way Best did until Giggs arrived. Because I was able to see Giggs play essentially from his start with the first team (thank god for telemundo), and because he played the same position I did as a kiddo, it was a natural fit for Giggsy to take over as my footballing hero. And what is fantastic now is that as Giggs starts to get up in age, the best damn winger on the planet is blossoming on the right-hand side for the Red Devils!!! I love Manchester United! I love playing on the wing! I love exclamation marks!!! Someone punch me in the face!
Seriously, is there gonna be a liveblog for the Roma game so I can post more “!!!”’s?
