I Love United. I Love Goal Highlights. I Do Not Love 5:30AM.

By: Taylor Rockwell | December 18th, 2008

So, I set my alarm, woke up, found a stream of the match between United and Gamba Osaka, and then promptly went back to sleep. This sequence of events turned out to be a shame, as I missed a (seemingly) rare opportunity for United to display their firepower. Five goals (three in minutes 75-79) put Manchester through to the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup where they will meet Copa Lib Champions LDU Quito of Ecuador.

Goals from Vidic, Ronaldo, Rooney, Fletcher, and Rooney saw United oust the J-League Champions 5-3 in the wee small hours of this morning (Eastern Standard Time, obviously). Gamba Osaka played well in the early portion of the game, and kept it relatively close until United poured on three goals in 4 minutes to lock up their place in the championship.

Anyway, here are all the highlights I could find and get posted as quickly as possible.

United 1 – Gamba Osaka 0 (Vidic)

United 2 – Gamba Osaka 0 (Slave)

United 2 – Gamba Osaka 1 (Yamazaki)

United 3 – Gamba Osaka 1 (Rooney)

United 4 – Gamba Osaka 1 (Fletcher)

United 5 – Gamba Osaka 1 (Rooney)

United 5 – Gamba Osaka 2 (Endo)

United 5 – Gamba Osaka 3 (Hashimoto)

So, a lot of goals. Some exciting play. Rooney destroying people. Not sure what else you could ask for… except if you’re asking for United to not let a half-decent team score three goals on you. Then I suppose you actually do have something to ask for. Looking forward to the finals! Bring it on, Ecuador.

FSC probably would have had one of those retards dong their own commentary as well. Max Bretos is a complete tool.

“They have the soccer ball in their own quadrant… he plays it up the field and kicks a touchdown!” – Max Bretos (with some creative liberties thrown in)
