Harry Redknapp and The Fiver; How Can You Lose?
By: Taylor Rockwell | January 22nd, 2009Two tidbits I wanted to pass on regarding the FA Cup match this weekend between United and Tottenham. Despite vehement protests, the FA has refused to take any action against Spurs manager Harry Redknapp for his declaration that he would, “go to Old Trafford with the weakest team I can possibly find.” The Fiver chimed in on this controversy, and I felt the need to pass it along.
“Undoubtedly Tottenham will be selecting a team from their first-team squad” – an FA suit responds to Harry Redknapp’s promise that he will field “the weakest team I can possibly find” in the FA Cup at
Manchester United this weekend. Does the FA ever actually take anything in?
Not to be seen as biased, the Fiver also took a quite hilarious shot at Ferguson and his “injury crisis”.
Once Sir Alex Ferguson has finished compiling a dossier of rival managers, referees, and FA and Premier League officials who he believes to be responsible for eight of his defenders being knacked
for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham Hotspur Under-11s, he’ll decide whether to play Darren Fletcher or a cardboard cut-out of Denis Irwin as a makeshift right-back.
Good stuff all around… this proving the old addage, “If you can’t think of something funny to write, just steal it from a far superior English publication.”

Not really… the cardboard cut-out of Denis Irwin should be able to get the job done… otherwise…

My favourite thing about this is that “the weakest team I can possibly find” would – on recent form – actually be Spurs first XI.
