Happy Birthday Paul Scholes

By: Ryan | November 16th, 2009

A Very happy 35th Birthday to Paul Scholes

While he looks like funnyman Simon Pegg, Scholes has been anything but a joke to United’s opponents. With ridiculous passing that tears through defenses all the while making it look simple, a niche for shooting long range rockets into the back of the net, and a surly temper (75 bookings in the EPL, 24 in UEFA CL play), Paul Scholes has wrecked havoc on any pitch he steps on.

Since 1994(1991-1994 Youth Squad Member) Scholes has been a key to our middle, helping us to 9 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups, and 2 Champions League titles. Needless to say, he has been a huge part of our squad. Hell, in 2008 he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame. So Happy Birthday Paul, and thank you for everything!

Still disappointed that Paul Scholes didn’t keep playing for England. World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 might have gone differently had he played. Not his fault though as Eriksson was basically wasting Scholes’ talent by playing him left mid, and suppose the lack of international football has lengthened his club career a little.

How much longer do you think he’ll keep playing? And is he still planning to finish his career at Oldham Athletic?

As far as I know he is still planning to go to Oldham (although I tend to think as little as possible about the post-Scholes era). I honestly think he only has 1-2 more seasons in him, which honestly would be 16+ seasons at Old Trafford. Not a common thing in this day and age.
