Ferguson charged, Carrick’s new deal

ferguson_2569428To no one’s surprise, SAF has been charged by the FA for the comments he made about Atkinson at Stamford Bridge.
Were his words harsh? Yes. But they weren’t an inaccurate assessment of the ref’s overall performance.
The FA keeps holding managers accountable for their statements. When will we start seeing that accountability demanded for refs and their performances? Maybe that’s not possible since refs are after all, only human and if we held them all accountable, then we wouldn’t have anyone left to ref the games. If that’s what it is, then surely managers should be allowed to express their frustrations. How can accountability only be demanded on one end?

In more surprising news, Carrick has signed a contract extension to stay at the club for another three and a half years. I for one was under the impression that he would be part of the big clear out this summer. Is that just a myth then and can we expect to see the same midfield next season minus Hargo? Granted, Carrick hasn’t been the worst performer for us this season, but he hasn’t exactly reached the heights from a couple of seasons ago when we had him tagged as the next Paul Scholes. Has SAF seen enough from Carrick this season to have offered him this extension? Or is it based on the knowledge that he’s capable of more than he’s shown in the past few months.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we don’t hear news of a Gibson or Bebe extension.

carrick's new deal is making me fear the worst...we are not going to have a summer clear out after all...i wouldn't be surprised if scholes agrees a yr extension in next few days and we'll be stuck with the same toothless midfield like this season...i doubt we'll sign anyone other than a keeper and even there i don't see fergie spending big to get someone like lloris, neuer or adler...
i am somehow not supporting fergie over his rant on the ref,i'm not saying the fa did the right thing by banning fergie but his angry rant doesn't change the fact that our performance in the second half was awful and fergie must take responsibility for that and all our away performances this season!!!
coming to nemanja vidic..why the hell does he have to go for that tackle in the final minute when he knows that the match is lost and he'll miss the next all important game if he gets it wrong??????not the most inspirational leadership
finally i'm starting to wonder that our season might be all over by the next 15 days..arsenal surely can beat us in the fa cup,we might get knocked out of c.l. if the french score an away goal and judging by our away performances even pool might beat us.united have been boaring this season but atleast they were winning...

  • the next 15 days will surely be a test of our character and ability to bounce back and play some tough fixtures without our best players.
as to whether or not we will get the clear out that was rumored earlier, i'm with you in fearing the worst. it really looks like we'll stick with who we have and maybe bring in a young unknown midfielder (maybe not to the extent of bebe), but not anyone that would command upward of a 15m pound transfer fee. like i said in an earlier post, i think our best bet would be to use the huge stable of forwards we have and use one (or two) of them to knock down the fee for a transfer target (assuming the other club wants one of our forwards not named Rooney, Berbatov or Chicharito).
