Champions League Draw/Ball-Fest Leads to This…

By: Nick | August 30th, 2007

Just finished watching (or rather fast forwarding through) the somewhat ridiculous pomp and ceremony of the UEFA Champions League group stage draw — jeez, the powers that be in football don’t half take themselves a bit too seriously at times.

First, the dramatic (sic) wait to determine which group United will feature in (it’s Group F by the way).

Then we eventually learned the all important opponents:

*AS Roma — Probably not the first choice of the Rome or Manchester police…

*Sporting Clube de Portugal — A blast from the past for Ronaldo and Nani…

*FC Dynamo Kyiv — A long trip for United’s traveling faithful. Pack the cold weather clothes lads.

All in all not too bad I suppose. I reckon it’s a slightly easier prospect than Liverpool and Chelsea’s fate, but I’ve little doubt that Arsenal got the plum group.

It seems that ghosts have returned to ROME. :P
Of all the English teams Arsenal got the easiest.

The Roma ties should be awesome, Herbert Fandel is not longer refereeing and Totti & Co probably have yet to forget the Old Trafford annihilation from last year. Also, I agree, the riot police in Rome are probably already gearing up.
