Apparently Having 46 Injured CMs = Not A Big Deal

By: Taylor Rockwell | October 17th, 2008

I was set to not write anything else today and instead actually focus on being a productive member of my company. That went right out the window when I saw this article on Manchester United’s website.

After reading it, I allowed myself a moment of deep thought before I shook my head in amazement at how ridiculous our current squad is (in a good way, mind you). The article boasts that United have a “full squad” to face West Brom, except for the minor absences of Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick, and Paul Scholes.

Who knew that these three were totally expendable?

Seriously? Did you ever think you would live in a world where a team could be without those three players, and the manager would shrug it off? Hell no. Generally, when three top tier players are out with injuries, it causes uproar in the global media. Look at Liverpool and Chelsea. Their world class players go down and I have to read roughly 6000 stories a day about it. And yet United goes without three top players and, guess what… no big deal. We’ll just throw in three other world class players, and then get on with the business of crushing West Brom.

Do you think Mike Ashley, Gianfranco Zola, and Juande Ramos look at United with pangs of jealousy covered by a veneer of barely contained rage? I feel like they absolutely must… and I, for one, am okay with that.

Manchester United VS West Bromwich is a surewin of 4.85% at Sports Arbitrage Union.
After a poor start, West Brom have now won three of the last four to move into to the top half of the table, just one place behind Saturday’s illustrious opponents. However, Tony Mowbray may be wishing this fixture had come along earlier because United have really hit their stride in the last few weeks after dawdling in the bottom half. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have now won four straight, all by at least two-goal margins and the only goal they conceded in that run was in a Carling Cup win over Middlesbrough when plenty of first-teamers were missing. Manchester United won the last Premier League fixture between the pair by a comprehensive 3-0 margin and something similar beckons this time.

I’m watching the game right and after 50+ min, maybe it’s time to bring on Tevez to make some difference.

Tevez was not even on the bench for the game, John … it was always a matter of the first goal being the starter for many.. couldn’t understand why Ronaldo was not happy about his goal.. not even a smile… ;)
