And Now Citeh Must Be Destroyed…
By: Taylor Rockwell | July 14th, 2009So, as of yesterday evening, Carlos Tevez is a Manchester Citeh player. The Argentinian put pen to paper on a five year contract (ostensibly worth around £800 billion a week). “The manager and the owners are very ambitious and that became clear to me the first time we spoke,” he told the Daily Mail. “This is the chance to be involved from the start, an opportunity to help build a special experience. When I get the chance to play, I am confident that it can lead to goals, for me and for my team-mates. I am a team player who can score goals. I know my responsibilities. I am thrilled to be a City player. I can’t wait for the new season to begin.”
So farewell to Carlitos, samba dancer, BFF, and nasty goalscorer. Tevez played a major role in the 2007/2008 campaign, and his partnership with Rooney led to multiple bits of brilliance. The player never made secret his desire to remain with United. However, as contract talks stalled/never occurred, and his playing time dipped and dipped, it became increasingly apparent that the 4′7 international would be walking at the end of the season.
But to Citeh? Again, I understand why. They have more money than any other team, he wanted to stay in the Premiership, and no one else was really biting. But… I mean… to Citeh? Keep in mind that only a few weeks ago Tevez’s agent/owner/overseer stated, “‘We ruled Liverpool out because of the competitive nature of Manchester United and Liverpool. He has a lot of respect and a lot of love for the fans of Man United and I think he would rule Liverpool out as being the biggest competitor.” Look, no one wanted to keep Tevez around more than me, but this shit drives me crazy.
Liverpool are the biggest competitor? He respects the fans? And I’m sure the money has nothing to do with it. I mean, why else would he sign for a club that already has Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy, and (perhaps) Adebayor? I definitely see total playing time for him in that lineup!
If “respect for the fans” is so important, then I guess it makes total sense to sign for their cross-city rivals. Obviously. How could that not work out perfectly? I mean, I guess he could have gone number two on the Busby Statue at Old Trafford… but that wouldn’t have been symbolic enough.

lol tevez just cared that manchester city was in manchester. He didnt want to move houses and change his little girls school. The money is excellent as well and he will be a big fish in a little pond, something he likes.

I thought the whole point of him going to Citeh is that they aren’t a small pond anymore?

That’s karma coming around for signing Owen.

The difference being Owen has moved to a vastly superior club to all his previous clubs.

Ireland – A good young player for sure, but has nothing on Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard or even Fabregas.
Robinho – Did he score in 2009? Has less committment than anyone else in the Prem.
Roque – Decent player, but it doesn’t count if you are constantly injured.
SWP – Okay player, but can’t get into the Englad squad or the Chelsea team. All those descriptions seems pretty average to me.

Steven, sometimes I think about the West Ham deal and liken it to steroids in Major League Baseball. Barry Bonds somehow puts on 100 pounds of muscle and starts crushing the ball and everyone deludes themselves into thinking, “What an athlete. He must love the gym.”
Similarly, I remember seeing that headline of the Hammers getting Tevez and Mascherano, and thinking not enough was being made of how sketchy that whole situation was.
