A Reason Why I Hate United’s Nike Shirts…
By: Nick | November 1st, 2006
Besides the fact that they’ll only be worn for one year (parents – you have my sympathy) – they’re also rather uninspiring.
Then I began having the nagging feeling I’d seen them somewhere before… I’d always expected the United shirt to be unique (unlike the generic adidas shirts worn by Chelsea and Liverpool) – but I just couldn’t place the design.
Then it hit me – they bear an uncanny resemblence to the jerseys of Nike’s fictitious high school American football team the Briscoe Hawks! How lame!!

Er, you do realise it’s a special commemorative shirt for the 50th anniversary of the Busby Babes side’s first league victory? Hence the old-school collar etc.

“Special commemorative shirt”… Yes, obviously the Busby Babes ran around with a logo as big as that one on their chests.
