A Cure For What Ails You

By: Nick | January 23rd, 2007

fer1.jpg What does a legendary manager do the day after a maddening last gasp defeat to a hated rival? Why fly to Hungary for some brandy of course! As well as for other reasons evidently – but I’m sure the brandy helped sooth the spirit a little bit.

As expected, the message from within United is not to begin ringing the alarm bells. Rightly so. But there’s no doubt Sunday’s defeat will have an impact. We’ll know exactly what, in just over a week – after the visits of Portsmouth and Watford.

Speaking of the Hornets – a bemused Edwin van der Sar is looking forward to their visit – as a chance to vanquish the ghosts of the Emirates horror show. Defeat (or even a draw) is unthinkable for this game. It’ll be the first sure test of character this season.
