A Bitter Pill

By: Nick | November 21st, 2006

cb1.jpg This one’s going to gnaw for a while. We should have qualified easily before this match. Instead, thanks to Fergie’s team selection in Copenhagen – we failed to get a result – such that would have made this loss inconsequential.

Now we all feel a little nervous. Defeat to Benfica in two weeks is unthinkable. Not making the next round is unfathomable. But both are possible. Questions continue to be raised about our European pedigree.

Sir Alex admits he was shocked by the result – how on earth does he think we feel? All we can hope, is that the sting has lessened by morning.

Then there’s the small matter of Chelsea’s visit to focus on…

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
    Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,
We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the scottish football league

    Go Bhoys!

Enjoy it while it lasts mate — back to the dreary SPL for you this weekend! Honestly though – well done!

I’m glad to see Celtic through in this fashion, because, honestly, given their away form, I don’t think they’d have gotten through any other way.

Now, like this, both Celtic and Man.U. can both go through … and I’ll be extremely happy.

If United get the point vs. Benfica — I’ll be chuffed for Celtic no doubt… I’ll always pull for British clubs (except Chelsea – they’re Russian!). ;)

Here’s the draw I’d love to see:

    1st Knock-out
Celtic v Chelski — Celtic win

    Quarterfinals
Celtic v Liverpool — Celtic win

    Semi-finals
Celtic v Arsenal — Celtic win (see a pattern here?)

    Finals
Celtic v (nope, not what you’re thinking)… ta daa, Inter

    Of course, Celtic win.

No more ManU for us….we’ve had enough thanks.
