Man Utd Ramblings – Paper Talk

By: Wayne Farry | May 19th, 2009

Gonna kick off today in a lazy way, going through some different stories I’ve found on the net this afternoon. It’s quite crazy, just how much United news there is every single day online, but I’m not complaining, it makes for good reading.

First off today, there’s a nice piece on the Times Online, as they discuss the twenty defining moments of the season for United including Scolari joining Chelsea, Abu Dhabi buying City and Liverpool’s many draws.

Guardian Football says that Gary Neville could be this year’s Champions League Final’s Ji-Sung Park, by being left out of the squad for Rome altogether.

This one is a few days old but is still worth a read, Football365 conclude sixteen points from United’s draw with Arsenal on Saturday. It’s quite funny, as usual from F365.

You’ll see these all around the internet but I’ve seen it on FSC, once again another ‘leaked’ version of United’s new kit for the 2009/10 season, I don’t think I like it.

And finally, a piece from the ever sensible The Sun, as they pinpoint the ten best decisions ever made by Sir Alex, hmmm. Read at your own risk.

Same here, other than experience I don’t think he really contributes anymore. I think he may as well just accept it and take up a coaching role.

It’d be a nice send off for the G-Nev if he got to play in a CL final though, he deserves that I reckon.

Maybe he does Rob, but if there’s one thing we know about Fergie it’s that when it comes to winning trophies sentimentality goes out the window.

well the thing that works for gary this year is, that come next wednesday, he will be our second-choice right back. maybe if we have a comfortable lead, we can put him in for the last 5 minutes or so and he can be on the field when we win that trophy. and after that, hopefully gary will come back as coach, not captain.

What do you guys think about United wearing the white kit for the CL final?

Anyone know why Barca gets to wear their home uniform? Is there a rule that decides who is the “home” team?

isn’t the white kit premier league-only?

by the way, the home team is decided during the draw that pitted us with porto and that side of the bracket.

I just got an email from manutd.com saying that the white kit would be worn in Rome and it is now available for pre-order.

Isn’t it, it’s awful. Black on white doesn’t really work. The Spoiler called it an ode to Bosingwa!

Hi, is it just me or is anyone else nervous that Fletcher wont be in the final against Barca. Just heard there midfield possible line up and looks like Innesta(spelling?) will be fit, he is the same sort of player as Fabregas, for me, who ran the show at the weekend without Fletcher being present. Also looks like Henry is playing and i think Fletcher could have kept a good eye on him as well. Get well soon hargreaves we need him i think, in our squad. I do like Carrick but i fear how much he wants the ball if we go behind in a big game against a big team and i do think Barca will score first, I do beleive we will win it though , but maybe on pens. Any thoughts?

john, he’s alot better than fabregas. i have a weird suspicion fergie’s got something up his sleeve re: a defensive midfielder. i think he may run park out in the middle to chase iniesta around. henry isn’t nearly the concern that iniesta is, i think the barca bloggers would back that up. i don’t think neville will be marking him so pace may not be an issue, it’s just whether he feels like being crafty enough to burn rafael.
