Man Utd Ramblings – Paper Talk
By: Wayne Farry | May 23rd, 2009Shockingly, I felt guilty for not posting something up yesterday because we’ve been keeping this so active lately. But I went to see Star Trek last night (it’s fucking unbelievable, and I usually hate sci-fi) and had no time to do anything. Alas, today is another day and a time for rebirth and blogging. So, another installment of incessant Man Utd Ramblings from me, but borrowed from other sources, just to let all the plebs know what’s happening in the world of Man Utd. Let it begin.
First off, a splendid little piece by Russel Brand on the Guardian website. If you haven’t read his football writing, but like his stand-up act, you’ll love it. He uses his vast vocabulary in ways that it probably wasn’t intended; describing the world of football. But today he’s got a great piece on Sir Alex, and how it might take something unworldly to lead him to retire.
The second piece from the rags today is actually also from the Guardian website. Rio talks to David Conn about his life, ambitions and his desire to make history with Man Utd, nice stuff.
A nice, short and typically brilliant low-brow picture of Liverpool from Republik of Mancunia.
The Times says that Ronaldo is set to outshine Mr. Messi in Rome, according to the stats anyway.
Among others, ESPN reports the story that a UK newspaper has discovered our CL Final lineup. And apparently there’s no place for Berba or Tevez. Hint here, it’s allegedly the same as the lineup against Arsenal in the CL, with Giggs instead of Fletcher. Intriguing stuff, sigh.

why was it ferg spent 30 mil on berba if he’s not going to play in the biggest match of the year?
i think berba is the perfect foil for pique…other than us knowing whatever we knew to let him go back to barca. he needs to lean on him all game and play the ball away from him to the rest of the guys. he’s their best defender and i think berba shielding him and knocking people on where he can’t do anything about it is the way to go.

i’m not sure the stats actually say anything significant about predicting how messi and ronaldo will match up, but at any rate the times say the stats say messi will outshine ronaldo, and not the other way around as you have it.

I wonder if people will ever feel the debate of who is better is just too boring to keep rolling it again and again
Regarding berba, not selecting him (if it happened) is not a sign that the Millions were paid for nothing. there is no player who is a perfect option for all the games.
For example, for the game between our team (Barcelona) and Chelsea (1st leg), I was hoping to see an offense of Iniesta-Henry (striker) and Messi. Benching Eto’o. because that wasnt the type of games where eto’o can operate. And we are talking about Barcelona player who hold a historical scoring record for the club.
But its Sir alex u know…U may end up having Park as a striker and it may end up being just what u need.
I cant wish u good luck though…

And by the way, any confirmation about Ferdinand situation?

Ferdinand should play: there’s not much worry about that.
Berbatov has had a steady first season, and the only reason he’ll probably not play is that CR has been playing pretty damn good up the middle recently and PJS would be better on the right than CR when it comes to protecting the full-backs. Then again, SAF might pull something odd out of the bag since there are a few front 5/6 combinations that could start.
Yeah, I’m surprised that this Messi vs CR thing hasn’t just annoyed everyone to death by now: they’re two different players who play two different types of football. It’s about as sensible as arguing which of your organs is more vital for survival, your oesophagus or your heart?

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of activity lately. I’m in the process of a bit of renovation at home but will have some stuff up tonight.

Wayne, I hope that doesn’t pertain to “decorating” your living room in a certain way in order to compensate for the lack of your presence at a certain upcoming footballing event?

Ha, no Ilyich, I’m not that sad thankfully.
In fact, I ripped up some carpet and rearranged furniture. Not even half the job done yet though.
