Congratulations To Barcelona
By: Wayne Farry | May 27th, 2009As you can imagine, I’m devastated. I was wrong about my prediction. I was also wrong about Barca’s potential when playing against world-class opposition. They’re immense, in every way.
Simply put, they were utterly superb. Equally simply put, we didn’t turn up.
So please excuse me if this is short but I can’t go into this right now, I’m going to drown my sorrows. All I can say is that Barcelona were magnificent and I can’t remember a time when a team so much deserved to win a trophy.
They are worthy champions. Congratulations.

Congratulations to Barca, you were the better team tonight. I’m still gutted though

@jason: that is probably the most condescending comment i’ve ever read.

Does anyone know what type of grass is in the Stadio Olimpico? I am looking for an answer as specific as possible. thanks.

congrats to them indeed…we sucked (rooney particularly pissed me off…his matching rating hovered around 1) and they knew exactly what to do once they smelled blood. that’s what good teams do to teams that don’t show up.

Happy that you lost. Serves you right for stealing 16 year old players from Italy.

ignoring various crap above, thank you for honest congratulations as opposed to condescending nonsense…something to be admired.

Once again CR7 showed his class. Fuck him.
I felt sad for Rooney. He was the only one trying to do something.
Giggs – ’nuff said.

haha, first thing thats made me laugh since the match is that there are two types of comments on here: (1) sportsmanship from barca and man utd fans and (2) bitterness from every other teams’ fans

Congrats to the Catalans. We were just outmanned after that first goal. We never recovered and Champions have to do that.
I’m still blaming this on the all white jerseys. I hate those things.

yeah the white jerseys do suck, but think, you cant wear your red, nor your blue, last seasons black looks too similiar. you dont have many choices.

Sorrow is a bloody good swimmer though… I was hoping to see my home team play against the best european team in the Club World Cup, now it’s just going to be Barcelona. Tough luck indeed, now we should concentrate on keeping C-Ron and Tevez in Manchester, and maybe spend some good money on RibĂ©ry. Next year !

wow, 9 comments before this became a bit bitter. Tough loss for the boys, but we’ll be back next year.

Absolutely gutted at our performance. Barcelona were far superior and really showed us something.
So much can be said, and yet, so little. As it was put last year, we must move on and concentrate on our next task now.

Thanks for the class, everyone, Wayne in particular. You all know, of course, that if Park doesn’t shoot it over the bar, it’s a completely different match, and we cules are over here congratulating you all after the victory.
And thanks for the compliments. I expect that if all goes as it should, we’ll both be back there next season.

i agree kxevin. utd and barcelona are definitely meeting at some point in the champions league next year, with the winner of the matchup probably taking the final too.

I agree with Jason comment.
Some clubs desperately need titles so may be they can earn a Value, Great clubs add value to the titles, just by being there to compete for it.
Based on that, I am not surprised by the classy act of Wayne and co. You guys support a great team, and you just need to go to that other team page to figure out the difference between being Great, and being…just strong.
Hard luck, a loss take nothing away from you.

Indeed..like Jason said:
many thanks to Sir Ferguson for not playing anti-football like Chelsea did…

There is no worthier opponent in world football right now than Utd. We won this time, but next time it could be different. Two great teams met last night. I have no doubt in my mind that Utd will come back stronger next year. Ur record of remaining undefeated in the CL in two years up till last night is quite remarkable. I would have seen no shame in losing to you and I hope you see no shame in losing to us.

Well said Hilal. And you assume correctly, I feel absolutely no shame in losing to such an extraordinary side.
Such was my acceptance of the defeat that I was actually able to go out last night and forget about it, for the most part. Usually after a United defeat of this magnitude I’m inconsolable. But we were beaten by the superior team.
Also, and Barca fans won’t like this but I really want Guardiola to replace Ferguson when he retires.
