Kia Joorabchian Talks About Tevez’ Future

By: Wayne Farry | May 12th, 2009

Sorry if it appears that I have nothing else to speak about but Tevez’ imminent departure but honestly I found the whole thing interesting. And considering the amount, and results of the votes you put in (thanks, by the way) I assume you guys are interested too.

Anyway, just found an interview with Kia Joorabchian on Sky Sports in which he talks about Carlos Tevez’ future. He says the usual spiel that agents say, but it’s quite interesting nonetheless, quite short though.

I still hate Joorabchian, I really do. I don’t like the heavy influence he has on his product/client. But make up your own mind. Leave your comments below if you have the desire.

i think fifa needs to learn a lesson from this entire 3 year tevez saga (just ask west ham and sheffield united) and make it illegal for a player to be owned by an agent or his company. just keep it simple: player is either signed to a permanent deal at a club or he is available on a free transfer.

Weirdest set up i have ever heard…I totally agree wayne..the whole saga although interesting, is a farce..one of the top players in the world (maybe an overstatement) being owned by a company is just wrong..i feel sorry for tevez in the whole matter. All he wants to do is be a part of United’s success but so far he feels like an outsider…why is this?

I agree with SP. It should be illegal for a player to be owned by an agent or company. I think Joorabchian is a scumbag to the highest degree and Carlitos needs to run far, far away from him.

I honestly think that Tevez’ feelings as an outsider at Old Trafford all boil down to Joorabchian. While all players at OT have agents, when it comes down to it they’re owned by Man Utd and they’re brought together by that. While their agents might influence them, their main influence is Sir Alex. But it appears that Kia Joorabchian has a much stronger influence over Carlitos than Sir Alex ever will. So while all the other players are striving towards a common goal it seems that Tevez is being pulled in two opposite directions.

Which is a real pity, because I don’t think Kia Joorabchian has Tevez’ best interests at heart, it’s all about the moolah for him.

According to Jonathan Wood (The Sun), Alex Ferguson wants to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, to return to Scotland and manage Rangers before his retirement.

I can’t see that happening to be honest. The Sun is always coming out with bullshit like that.

Alex Ferguson Leaving Man UTD? I am not aware that there is a treatment to his Red Football addiction. If he doesn’t smell the Pitch at “Sir Matt Busby Way” Theater of dream twice a day, he will pass out. I believe he tried before, or thought about it. Nah…

Tell me that Man Utd will leave the “Old Trafford” to Play on a “New Trafford”, I will take that more seriously.

Tevez has really got himself stuck because of Joorabchian. On one hand he would have never been been able to finance a move out of South America, but on the other hand, it will most likely cost him a chance to play for Man Utd.

I really feel like the reason he hasn’t been signed long term comes down to Joorabchian.

Fergie, in my opinion, doesn’t want to pay that much to a third party when he could pay that much to Lyon for Benzema or Bayern for Ribery and build a good business relationship. Not to mention all the legal risks that come with third party owenership.

Another baseball reference… look at the way Scott Boras handled the Manny Ramirez situation last season and you’ll get an idea of what Joorabchian is doing here.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=manny
A very long article, but search for Boras and you’ll get what I’m talking about. In both cases, there’s a mildly upset star looking for a new contract, and there’s an agent who knows that other teams are willing to pay far more than the player’s current club.

So, the agent sows seeds of doubt and frustration, and promotes the idea that his client “isn’t being taken seriously.” All so that Tevez can ride the bench at Madrid or Milan next season, but Kia can get paid.

yes, ferguson will return to scotland one day… when he is done managing and wants to retire.

the tough part about tevez feeling like family is that he is on a loan. it’s hard to feel like you’re part of the family when you know it is only short term (just like i’m sure fraizer campbell liked playing for hull, but probably wouldn’t say that he felt like he was part of the family). now, to compound the situation, loanees generally have a main club that they can look forward to going back to where their friends from academy are. but tevez doesn’t have that either. no wonder he feels left out.

Taylor, that is a great point about the similarities to baseball that this situation portrays. the shame though is that i was hoping that i wouldnt see an agent situation in football that we’ve seen with the scott boras and drew rosenhaus (american football agent) of the world. but one thing that i can feel good about as far as the differences go is that, if Manchester City were a baseball team, all the stars would have already signed for them, but it hasn’t been the case so far in football.

SP, I totally agree on that one… although if City’s owners had bought a team with a real European history/had any real operating plan, we would be seeing a lot more big names migrating to the blue side of Manchester.

I think that we are seeing Mr. 10% play a much bigger role in player v team relations. Look at the way Slave never really says anything controversial, but his agent is constantly saying the wrong thing to the Spanish/Portuguese/any media outlet.

I don’t think we have to have Gary Neville’s dad manage everyone, but if players hired individuals with even a slight amount of loyalty, football would be a much different game. Look at Lebron in the NBA… hires an agent that pushes NY on him, fires the agent, hires friends/longtime associates to help him run his career, and now he’s posed to have a dynasty in Cleveland.
